Citrus Indica

Bitter, wild, vital, and endangered, Citrus Indica (Memang Narang) is the world’s most sacred orange. Protecting this ancient fruit—and others like it—is crucial for preserving the diversity that secures the future of citrus around the world. In collaboration with BBC food journalist Dan Saladino, we created a Delight to showcase California’s rare and wild citrus and replicate the flavor of the sacred “Fruit of the Ghosts.” 

To capture the bracing wildness of the world’s rarest orange, we set out to sustainably recreate the complex flavor of Citrus Indica with rare and uncommon local fruit varieties. We started with bitter, fresh-juiced Seville oranges from Lagier Ranches in Escalon, CA, then blended in early-harvest Page mandarins for juicy sweetness and fragrant richness. Wild Carrizo citrange juice added fragrant complexity, and we freeze-dried the thick peels for a bright orange coating to finish. All infused with 5mg THC from sun-grown indica flower, offering a mellow buzz.
